Etching of Aluminum & Aluminum Alloys
Aluminum is one of the light metals that is becoming increasingly important in the automotive and aerospace industries.
HP Etch has developed a chemical etching process to machine aluminum and aluminum alloys (1000, 2000, 3000, 5000, 7000 series...). Precision parts are being used e.g. in the automotive and aerospace industry.
Typical examples of aluminum alloys etched are:
- Al99,5 (1050A)
- AlMn1 (3103)
- AlMg1 (5005)
- AlMg3 (5754)
Advantages
- Low weight (thus fuel efficient and more environmentally friendly)
- High conductivity of electricity and heat
- Corrosion resistance
- Strength
Applications
Chemically etched aluminum precision parts are used in aerospace engineering, vehicle construction and architecture:
- Vehicle interior
- Heat exchanger plates
- Grills
- Dashboard, etc.
